Polymer Clay Play Day- all by myself...

So yesterday was a polymer clay day which takes me into the wee hours from first thing in the morning most times. I have been chomping at the bit to try a new technique which was demoed at my local guild meeting on Monday night; Cob beads and the Exkat Alignment technique. I needed to choose 4 colors; two lights and two darks.  I hated my first colorway so I doused it with gold mica powders.
The second is more to my liking.  These have not been sanded and buffed yet so they look dirty and a little rough. Once I get that done I will decide if I want to keep them matte finish or gloss them up.
Then they will go in my shop for Valentine Gifts.
I  always think I can whip up a few new things and quit
but once I get started I end up trying to use up my scraps and the best things start to happen.
Next thing I know my husband has gone to bed and the last batch is still baking in the oven at midnite!! So blurry eyed this morning I am took these pictures.  Sorry about the quality it is too bright outside.
Hearts for Valentines Day items were in my plan but the best ones I think are the last which used up my scraps and orange gold from my first colorway pressed into a Mokume Gane block.  I love how the gold clay shadows when texturized in these pieces.

In the Fiber Department-

I taught my second crochet class at Gail Knits this past week and have a wonderful little group of ladies who are very interested in learning to do the hairpin lace I am enthralled with at the moment and free form crochet.  I love it when you get to make a living doing what you are passionate about and share that enthusiasm with other people.  I am thrilled that they are risk takers and creative thinkers!! Thank you
Dinah, Lisa and Melissa- You are inspiring me!!

In the Beading Department- Bead Soup
(click on the Pink Bead Soup and take a moment to check out Lori's hilarious post about the preparations for her Bead Soup Party)
It is in the making and I  found out who my Bead Soup Partner will be!!!  You can take  a peek at Angela's blog here: I am looking forward to the challenge, the fun and all the inspiration- 210 people are involved this time Woo Hoo!!!!
 Happy Weekend Everyone.

If you are a Beadaholic then you can stay right here for now.

Hopefully keeping up with these pages
won't make my head

and makes a bigger mess of my house than it already is.
I am planning to open a second Etsy Shop so that my goodies are divided up too-

I know I am crazy to pursue so many different creative outlets

Should old aquaintances be forgot......No, no and no.....

It is hard to believe that 2010 has past.
I started this blog on January 1, 2010
with the Mermaid's Treasure Necklace I made for a photo shoot
and guess what?
I lost my blog and had to start over!!
The result- a huge learning curve began. (I did later find it)
 WOW!!!,
I have learned so much,
found so many new friends and fellow artists
and grown in leaps and bounds because of it.
I will not forget all the kind and encouraging comments
I have received from all of you
as I dared to share my heart, my work and my life here.
Thank you everyone !!

The first big event this year will be a return of
The Bead Soup Party.
Thanks to Lori at Pretty Things it is happening again
and
I can hardly wait.
Check back for more about this.
My other exciting news will be about my Art Quilt-
renamed- "Casting Dreams" which was inspired by
McElligut's Pool a Dr. Seuss Tale.
A young man is fishing in a tiny pool on a farm.
The farmer tells him he is a fool, there is nothing to be caught
But he uses his imagination
and a myriad of underwater creatures
cover the pages of this book all in rhyme, Dr. Seuss style.
I created a huge fish
with fussy cut applique in bright colors and wild prints,
then he needed a home
so the end result was a somewhat irregular 6 foot  by 6 foot pond
full of the creatures in my imagination including an elephant fish and a music fish.
It will be exhibited at Road 2 CA
a huge quilt show in Ontario, California.
I am so happy that it made it into the show so it can be seen.
It took 2 years to complete
and I swear if it hadn't been shipped off for the show
I would still be embellishing it.
Barbara and I will leave on a Road Trip on Jan 21st!!
As soon as the show is over I can publish pictures of it
so be sure to come back around January 29th to see it.
There is so much to look forward to in 2011.
I am excited to find out what other surprises the new year will bring.
Live in the moment but anticipate glorious things.
Cast your dreams!!
And expect a Happy New Year!!

Last Minute Christmas Items!!

I have been madly creating special orders.
I several of my glam wrist pin cushions- I think photographing the lot of them is what attracted my buyers.
Gone are the turquoise and the olive with oak leaves
but you can still get the others in this picture.
I crochet over 3/4" waistband elastic so one size fits all.
Each one has a hand felted wool center for carrying your pins and
machine felted and free-motion stitched petals or leaves
and I hand beaded them with sequins and little bits of bling.
Here is a close-up of my newer turquoise one - not in the picture above.
Thus the Glamor!!

For your convenience and because you are all very special to me
I am now able to let you purchase items in this post
through Pay Pal directly from the Add to Cart Buttons.
